Simon Johnson

Contracts Manager

Simon began his career in the industry at a very young age. Born in 1991 into a family of Farmers, Agricultural Engineers and Land drainage contractors, he learnt to drive plant equipment from a very early age. As he got older he started to do more with the family business Northants Land Drainage Ltd and eventually gained in depth knowledge of site surveying and had the opportunity to use CAD in the workplace.

Simon always aimed for a career that combines and applies both mathematical and technical skills to a practical and worthwhile use. His experience of working with NLD on projects sub-contracted by large civil engineering companies has given him an incentive to pursue a career in this field. To take his career further he gained a National diploma in Construction at Moulton Collage (Northants) and then decided to persue a Civil Engineering Degree at the University of Northampton, all whilst working on the farm and NLD.

Power Plane Ltd at this time is a significant road-planing contractor with ambitions to expand and look to the future. Simon joined Power Plane to gain invaluable experience in this field of road planing and to be part of the companies’ expansion. He is progressing gradually and work in conjunction with our sales and coordinating team as well as assisting with site visits and inspections.

His passion in life is Rugby and currently he plays for Cambridge RFC on a semi-professional contract in the National League 2. Other hobbies include Clay pigeon shooting, Golf and tug of war where he competes on behalf of Lutterworth Young Farmers club with whom he has been a member for nine years. Simon's a social person who enjoys good entertainment, food and the occasional drink!
